Week 5 Power Ranking: Grit and Heart?

(c) PBA Media Bureau

After a shake-up last week, stability is the name of the game for this week.

I ranked them according to their chances of winning the crown and not on their current performance on the hardcourt.
#12 mahindra-floodbuster-300x143
(Last Week #12)
As a team, one of the biggest positives for this franchise is their rebounding. Even though they don't have an above average bigman, they are the fifth best in terms of grabbing the boards.

#11 Phoenix_Fuelmasters_logo
(Last Week #11)
Even the Fuel Masters were criticizing their team with their current two-games slide. They gave u a total of 240 points in their last two games and let their opponent, shoot 54.4% FG. Defense is vital to get the crown so Phoenix really need to fix it.

#10 NLEX_Road_Warriors_PBA_logo
(Last Week #10)
One number can summarize the struggles of the Road Warriors, 23.6%. That is their efficiency from beyond the arc. Coach Yeng is one of the biggest fun of stretching the floor so if the long bombs are missing the mark, success will be far away.

#9 Untitledbw
(Last Week #9)
Their win against NLEX strengthen their status as a middling team instead of a bottom-feeder. They still have a lot of issues to take care but at least the core is already there. One more youngster that is making his mark this conference is Kyle Pascual who is producing 11.6 points in 61.9% FG.

#8 star-300x182-2
(Last Week #8)
Their victory against Rain or Shine was a good one but I was not totally impressed to put them on the top 7. The most positive thing that they can takeaway from that game was their 15/28 three-point shooting. One of the best adjustments that coach Victolero did was to play at least four shooters in the court, at all times.

#7 oie_transparent

(Last Week #7)
Their defeat on the hands of the Aces was truly heartbreaking because they were the better team during that night. That game exhibited the biggest possible roadblock to their way to the championship, they cannot finish games, properly.

#6 TNT_KaTropa_logo
(Last Week #6)
I don't understand why Jayson Castro is still coming off the bench. Will that benefit them going forward or will it distort their rotation once Castro regain the starting PG position?

#5 oie_transparent-3
(Last Week #3)
End game execution is vital for a championship squad. Statistically, Rain or Shine was the better squad on that game. The #5 to #2 is just separated by hairlines so if Rain or Shine can sustain their defense, that will speak a lot about their ability of winning the crown.

#4 globalport
I am still waiting for one of the eleven other teams to show a crack on the offense of the Batang Pier. Their defense will be much easier to disperse but with their offensive firepower and scheme, they will still have a great chance.

#3 Barangay_Ginebra_San_Miguel_logo
(Last Week #2)
I am still banking on the magic of coach Tim Cone. The improved production of Kevin Ferrer should give coach Tim a great option, going forward.

(Last Week #4)
#2 alaska
 (Last Week #5)
Dominating Ginebra without Sonny Thoss is the last piece that I need to see to put them to the #2 spot. The ability to win games without any of their players breaking out is a great sign to the winning instinct and camaraderie of this team. I think, they are a much better team this season than last year.

#1 oie_p5B92kaf5ew6
(Last Week #1)
Their back to back victories against bottom-dwellers should reinvigorate them. Unfortunately or fortunately for them, their next game is still 9 days away, December 28.
