Week 4 Power Ranking: The Shake-up

(c) PBA Media Bureau

I saw a lot of things that made me shake-up the whole ranking.

I ranked them according to their chances of winning the crown and not on their current performance on the hardcourt.
#12 mahindra-floodbuster-300x143
(Last Week #12)
That close call against the San Miguel Beermen could be the start of something great for the Floddbusters. Joseph Eriobu looks like a legit menace and Alex Mallari has exceeded expectation as the main man of this team.

#11 Phoenix_Fuelmasters_logo

(Last Week #11)
They are a fantastic offensive squad but their defense really needs work. They are giving up the highest points per game and highest FG%.There is no way that the worst defensive squad will win the crown.

#10 NLEX_Road_Warriors_PBA_logo
(Last Week #8)
Coach Yeng needs time to maximize the talent of his squad. One of the crucial aspect of his scheme is outside shooting and as of today, they are hitting only 25% of their shot, 3rd worst in the league.

#9 Untitledbw

(Last Week #8)
As expected, their youth will catch up to them. This is now the biggest test for their campaign this conference, how will they adjust after suffering two straight defeats? They loss to two perennial contenders. How much did they learn from those defeats?

#8 star-300x182-2

(Last Week #10)
I saw something but I cannot pull the trigger, yet, to push them beyond #8. Limiting NLEX and Phoenix to an average of 77 points was a great sign that their defense is legit. It was pretty obvious that they connect better when their defense is clicking. So, let us see if they can do that again, against Rain or Shine this Sunday.

#7 oie_transparent

(Last Week #7)
I will be honest, I was impress with how loose and confident they were against TNT. But that could just be a case of familiarity and confidence after Meralco triumphed over TNT in Governors' Cup playoff. Their game against the Alaska Aces will be a better scale to measure their quality.

#6 TNT_KaTropa_logo

(Last Week #2)
The competition this year will be very tight that TNT don't have enough time to get acclimated with coach Nash' style and tactics. Jayson Castro is still getting back into the groove and that could be the bigger reason why they loss two of their four games. Those two losses could be disastrous for them, this conference.

#5 alaska

 (Last Week #3)
They are on the same boat with TNT. Their two early losses, primarily due to injuries, could give them a huge disadvantage in the playoffs. Alaska's 37% shooting (worst in the league) and 28 fouls per game (worst in the league) are very alarming, too.
#4 globalport

(Last Week #9)
Surprise! I am buying what coach Franz is doing with Globalport. They have an elite well-rounded offense and a very discipline defense. It will be a matter of sustaining it for the whole conference.

#3 oie_transparent-3

(Last Week #6)
They are playing with something to prove this conference. You can see it on their eyes. One vital piece for their campaign is the re-emergence of James Yap. If he can sustain it, he will be a great weapon and decoy in the playoffs.

#2 Barangay_Ginebra_San_Miguel_logo

(Last Week #4)
Their 12 made three-pointers in three games and 21 average turnovers are causes for concern but they have shown the ability of winning even with those predicaments. They fought three of the top 6 in this ranking so a 1-2 record is just fine.

#1 oie_p5B92kaf5ew6

(Last Week #1)
Against Mahindra, they actually attempted a lot of good shots, majority of it just did not fall. Nevertheless, their reign atop this standing could be ending soon if the flow of their offense continue to be inconsistent.
