We are 24 games in (as of this writing) and all teams have shown some flaws that needed to be filled for a better future.
So, here are the best trade targets for these teams, so far.
Blackwater - A rebounding bigman
Blackwater is currently the worst rebounding squad. Yes, they are inferior to the Mahindra Enforcers which doesn't have a passable bigman. Even Erram will not save them from their rebounding woes because he is only passable with his 5.0 rebounds in 18.6 minutes, career numbers.
I think, the most interesting target is Rico Maierhofer. An athletic big who will not be a problem on the defensive end.
Phoenix - A Defensive Guard
Phoenix has a very explosive backcourt but that explosive backcourt, led by Cyrus Baguio and Simon Enciso, has been the main culprit of their very bad defense. They need someone who can bring defensive energy to change the tune of the game, if necessary.
How about asking for Justin Melton of Star? Personally, I will be willing to shell out a 1st round pick for Melton because of the energy, hustle, defense and pace that he will bring to the guard position.
TNT - Picks
TNT has a good depth in every position. I just think though that turning one of their bench big to some picks, realistically 2nd round picks, could bump the confidence of the younger ones. I am talking about Harvey Carey, Danny Seigle and Kelly Williams.
With their offseason sales, Mahindra should be able to afford one of them, right?
Rain or Shine - A Center
If all their bigman is healthy, Rain or Shine could go toe-to-toe with any other frontline. Problem will arise once injury hit one of Almazan, Washington, Ponferada and Belga. They need to fool-proof their line-up by turning one of their wings or guards into a bigman.
One interesting target is Jay-R Reyes of the San Miguel Beermen. The addition of AVO makes trading one of Reyes and YDO, a viable option for the Beermen.
San Miguel - Picks
San Miguel is on the same boat with TNT. Unloading one of their bigs could be more beneficial, long term. They have three back-ups for Fajardo with YDO, Reyes and AVO and that is very illogical. Trading one of YDO and Reyes for picks will open up opportunity for AVO. Burying unripe rookies could be a good decision but sometimes, it hits the ego and the pride of the prospect, pretty hard. Putting a wall to his potential.
Star - A forward who can make plays
Trading for Rome Dela Rosa was just right as Star needs a player who can inject energy and hustle in the SF position. With three players capable of playing the center position, Star can still turn one of Javier and Brondial, or both, into a forward who has the handle and moves to create for the team.
One possible option is Reil Cervantes. Reil is Mr. Inefficiency but still, to be an effective creator, confidence is very important. He hasn't shown that he can make plays for his teammates but he should be able to learn that quick with his experience and skills.
