I know that you really appreciate scoring so here are some amazing facts about it.
Gary David was the top scorer for four of the last 10 seasons
When we talk about points, Gary David may not be one of the first three players that you mention, but if you check the numbers for the past decade, Gary was the top scorer for four seasons! And it was four straight seasons! Yes. Four. Straight. Season!
He did that from 2010 to 2013. And the second placers to him were Mark Caguio, Marcio Lassiter and James Yap, twice.
No bigman or even a forward had ended the season in the #1 spot for the last decade
Point guards and shooting guards dominated the #1 spot. Fajardo was the closest as he finished 2nd in 2014. He was also the 3rd best in the last two seasons. Will he finally end the reign of the guards this season?
The 2011 B-Meg squad was the only squad in the last 10 years to have three players in the top 6
None of those three ended up in the #1 spot but it was still amazing that three teammates managed to reached the top 6. James Yap, PJ Simon and Joe Devance finished #2, #5 and #6, respectively. The three of them combined for 52.4 points per game.
In the last decade, we only saw three players averaged 20+ points in a season, once
It happened in 2008 with James Yap, Willie Miller and Mark Caguioa posting 21.3, 20.5 and 20.2 points per game, respectively.
We witnessed the highest number of players averaging double-digit, last season
The just concluded season posted 37 players with double digit scoring average. That is 3 players higher than the second best of 34 in 2008. Here is the surprising thing, 16 of those players are bigman, players capable of playing the power forward position.
