Team Analysis: Which team will rise first; BGSM, NLEX or Mahindra?

(c) PBA Media Bureau

Let us talk about the struggling squads!

THE METHOD- In this method, we will be using these 11 (eleven) statistics. We will calculate if a team out-did his opponent in each stat. If the team win in that stat, it will get a score of 1. If he loss, it will get a score of 0.

We also have ties which will be given a score of 0.5. Below, you can see the 11 statistics and the difference that will be rated as tie. (So a 50 against 45 rebounds will mean 0.5 for each team).
Rebounds: 5
Assists: 3
3PTs Made: 2
Opponent FG%: 4%
Steals and Blocks: 1
Opponent T.O.: 2
Fastbreak Pts: 4
Pts in the Paint: 6
1st Quarter: 2
4th Quarter: 2
Bench Pts: 5

If a team wins, he will get a positive value and a negative value if he loss.
Will this really work?- Yes. I agree that those eleven stats are not equal in terms of importance but our main objective here is to find out the strengths and weaknesses of each team. As we go deeper into the season, the true identity of each team will come out and we will have a clearer view of what they should do and what do they need to perform better.

 GINEBRA
Rebounds: 1 -1.5
Assists: 2 -2
3PTs Made: 0.5 0
Opponent FG%: 2 -1.5
Steals and Blocks: 1 0
Opponent T.O.: 0 -2.5
Fastbreak Pts: 0.5 -1
Pts in the Paint: 1 -1
1st Quarter: 1.5 -0.5
4th Quarter: 2 -2
Bench Pts: 1 -0.5

Argue or Agree: About Coach Austria, Bench and etc.

This is the article series where I just share my opinion and it is up to you if you agree or not. If you disagree, the comment box below is the place for you!

Coach Leo was terrible in their game against Mahindra

I was able to watch the whole Mahindra versus San Miguel game and I believed coach Leo made a huge mistake of not giving the ball to Fajardo away from the ring. Pushing for a lot of high low plays and placing The Kraken in the shaded area cause them a lot of turnovers! I mean it, it was a lot!

Rain or Shine, Globalport and Phoenix, what are they doing to be at the upper echelon of the standing.

The Elasto Painters was one of the most anticipated team, entering the season, due to the departure of the faces of their franchise, coach Yeng Guiao and Paul Lee. So, did they change?

How about checking their TSA score from last season's Philippine Cup.

Good or Bad For the League: Ginebra will headline 9 of the 10 Sunday double-headers

The Sunday games of the PBA are considered to be the main event of each week. A lot of Filipinos used their Sunday for leisure time and majority of the basketball fans want to watch a PBA game.

Knowing that, the PBA made a drastic scheduling decision of putting Ginebra in 9 of the 10 double-headers in Sundays. It looks logical but it will not really help them in increase their following.

Why?

#1 The Sunday main event is the best spot to focus on other storylines and rivalries around the league. Some of the match-ups that should have been considered are Alaska-San Miguel, NLEX-Star, Star-ROS and Alaska-Globalport.
