Trade Analysis: Star-Alaska

(c) PBA Media Bureau

Coach Alex Compton and coach Chito Victolero swap their role players as they try to bolster their chances this season.

STAR-ALA
Star receive Rome Dela Rosa
Alaska receive Jake Pascual

When coaches made deals, it is hard to argue that it is imbalance. And for this one, this is a fair exchange. Both have been riding the bench for their whole PBA career but they are still young and the potential is still there.
Verdict: Fair

TEAM ANALYSIS

Receive Jake Pascual
Send Rome Dela Rosa

I love this trade for the Aces, even though Jake is really an under-size bigman. Jake is at most 6'4, but he has shown the ability to go toe-to-toe with almost every power forward out there. Rome's departure will not hurt them at all, because their wing rotation is really loaded.

Jake exhibited strong dedication on the defensive end which could allure coach Alex to give him more minutes than expected.

Grade: B

Receive Rome Dela Rosa
Send Jake Pascual

Star had fixed their backcourt depth, so it is time to do that with their frontcourt. By trading Jake, the frontcourt rotation now, looks like this, Pingris-Reavis-Sangalang-Ramos-Brondial-Javier. And with the addition of Rome, the wing rotation will turn out to be Maliksi-Lee-Ramos-Dela Rosa.

Rome will bring energy, hustle and defense to their wing rotation which it lacks. So, great decision for Star.
